Mr Fogg's Residence

Mayfair, London

Inspired by the fictional adventures of Phileas J. Fogg in ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’, Mr Fogg’s Explorer Series is a collection of intimate talks featuring epic travellers’ tales, told by some of the world’s greatest and most courageous adventurers. Over the past 5 years, we have been welcoming you through the doors of our Mr Fogg’s locations monthly; however, due to our temporary closure as a result of the current situation, Mr Fogg has decided to adapt to the new ways of the virtual world with an exciting new online venture: Mr Fogg’s Explorer Series – Virtual Edition!

Through the extraordinary medium of digital communication, we will be helping keep the spirit of travel and adventure alive by bringing our famed Explorer Series to your homes, far and wide. All legendary explorers will be invited to take part in this new virtual edition, including some of our most popular past speakers. Later this evening at 7pm, we will kick off the series across Mr Fogg’s social media channels with a short video of Lucy Shepherd, answering a series of online questions surrounding travel and exploration – including valuable tips on how to get your ‘exploration fix’ from the comfort of your own home. The perfect solution for explorers, expeditionists and travel-seeking individuals alike, particularly at this difficult time!

A little more about Lucy Shepherd:

Made a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society at just twenty-three years of age in 2015 and as of 2019, the youngest ever Scientific Exploration Society committee member, Lucy Shepherd is an adventurer in every sense of the word. Filming each expedition to communicate her story and highlight the climate crisis she observes whilst undertaking these challenges, these expeditions have taken her far and wide, from the Arctic to Alaska. Leading solo and team expeditions, crossing numerous countries by foot, she has solo skied along the Norwegian-Russian border, mountaineered across the High Sierra range and climbed Tajikistan’s treacherous peaks, narrowly escaping disaster.

Her upcoming expedition sees her return to Guyana but this time to the very south of the country, attempting to cross a large mountain range from south to north – a feat never achieved by anybody before. Nestled deep in the protected rainforest, Lucy will film for a production company, taking water samples for analysing microplastics, while working as a trio with two Amerindians where they will hunt and fish as they go, through unknown and unpredictable terrain.
