Stephen Fabes Explorer Series Talk
Monday 20th April 6:01pm - 8:31pm
Mr Fogg's Residence
In April, Mr Fogg’s Explorer Series will welcome Stephen Fabes to recount his journey of leaving St Thomas’ Hospital, London behind to embark on a new challenge – to cycle the length and breadth of six continents. Overcoming a copious bout of self-doubt as he set off, into the dawn of the coldest European winter for thirty-one years, over the course of the next six years he travelled 86,209 km, emerging victorious on Westminster Bridge in early 2016. From the scorching deserts of Syria and Afghanistan to dodging landslides, towing rollerblades across Uzbekistan, cycling naked with 10,000 people, surviving a run-in and pedalling through blizzards, tropical storms and volcanic eruptions, Stephen really has experienced everything, all whilst blogging this adventure on his blog ‘Cycling The 6’. The journey was also an opportunity for him to bring his years of medical training outside the UK by visiting remote medical clinics and observe the fight against awfully neglected tropical diseases, raising over £20,000 in the process.
Each Explorer Series talk, guests can sit back and listen to the outstanding adventurer’s stories and are invited to participate in a Q+A discussion afterwards, all whilst sipping a selection of tantalising Tanqueray No. Ten gin cocktails including; To the Ends of the Earth a mix of Tanqueray No. TEN Gin, Fermented Banana Shrub, Coffee Liqueur and Lime, Eastern Horizons made with Tanqueray No. TEN Gin, Belsazar Rosé Wine Aperitif, Sake and Pollen and Pole to Pole a blend of Tanqueray No. TEN Gin, Passion Fruit Juice, Toasted Rice Mirin, Vanilla and Fresh Lemon.
