About Give it Your Max:

We’ve all heard stories about football matches breaking down barriers of war torn countries and it’s true, sport has the power to breakdown social barriers and change lives and Give It Your Max is passionate about just that; changing the lives of British children who are less fortunate. Give It Your Max uses tennis to tackle socio-economic issues, including poor mental health, low self-esteem, high levels of inactivity, crime/anti-social behaviour, and low aspirations.

Give It Your Max is a UK children’s tennis charity working with young people aged 4-18 across the UK’s inner cities of London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Newcastle.  Due to financial difficulties the majority of programme children have never had the opportunity to play tennis before and by participating in their sessions the children learn essential skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and perseverance. The sessions help them develop self-esteem, providing them with a sense of accomplishment and often fostering a sense of belonging and friendship. Additionally, the discipline and resilience gained through the children’s sessions has translated into better academic performance in the classroom, setting children on a positive path for their future. If we fail at achieving any of the above, we know one thing, our sessions will put a smile on the child’s face and hopefully be an hour in their week that they really look forward to!
